Taco Bell Elk Grove, CA Shooting — A 19-year-old Taco Bell employee was injured in a shooting outside the Taco Bell on Elk Grove Boulevard near Emerald Oak Drive on Thursday night, according to the Elk Grove Police Department. The incident prompted a police response, closure of part of the restaurant’s parking lot, and an active investigation by local law enforcement.
Officers were called to the scene just after 9 p.m. after reports of gunfire in the parking area of the Taco Bell. Police say the victim — an employee who was on a break and seated in his car — was approached by another vehicle. After a brief interaction, the suspect reportedly fired a shot into the employee’s vehicle.
Despite the traumatic event, the employee drove himself to a nearby fire station to seek help. He was then taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities confirmed. It was Elk Grove’s first reported shooting of the year, according to police.
The Taco Bell parking lot was seen cordoned off with crime-scene tape as officers worked through the scene. Nearby traffic and patrons were diverted while initial investigative work continued, and the restaurant was expected to remain closed for several hours following the incident.
At this point, no suspect description has been released and it is unclear whether the victim and the shooter were acquainted. Detectives are actively gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses as the investigation progresses.
The Elk Grove Police Department is urging anyone with information about the case to come forward to assist with the ongoing inquiry.
We will provide updates as more details become available.
